Good Day.
What brings you to a place in time is rarely just one thing.   And just like most things, mine and farm originates from a recipe of life experiences, people, beliefs...and a love of design.  Design that is well thought out, accessible and does not exploit other people or living things in its' process.

Many view "good design" as a lovely thing but not necessarily attainable, affordable or relevant to their daily lives.   It is too often interpreted as a luxury due to the way it has been taken over by private industry and the financial elite who can afford to support them.  Some of the greatest designers of our time recognize this hijacking of sorts and its' lack of inclusiveness.  Mine and farm views good design as essential to addressing community challenges and the longevity of our species, as well as the impact we have on all others.  And within that, a user's experience can transform their daily lives for the better.  Whether it is having to navigate getting your car out of impound, accompanying a parent to get chemotherapy for the first time or bringing your child to the local playground, good design can have a dramatic effect on the human experience of frustration, nervousness and joy.

Within our model of capitalism, there will always be human and natural resources that are exploited within our privilege of consumption.  We want to offer products that support the communities in which they derive and for ways for mine and farm to meaningfully collaborate. The vast majority of our products are sourced from the USA and we will be adding more products that are made here at home over the next six months.  This includes our own product line from m+f studio.....proudly made in California from US materials.

While some things have been mapped for expansion,  we will also want to be dexterous enough to respond to opportunities that excite us and fit the company's values.   There is much chaos in Washington DC, so rather than be politically agnostic,  mine and farm has embedded the ethos that we will Stand for Change within our model of  business.  Our country is facing unprecedented challenges from within that is threatening societal norms of democracy and its foundational pieces.  We can  begin to correct our current place in history with a renewal of civic engagement that is inclusive, honest and speaks truth to power.   Sitting off to the side, hoping you don't alienate a potential customer,  can no longer be an option.  This not only means holding businesses accountable but also having the expectation that they have a role in making our communities better. As time goes on, we ask that our customers hold us to this standard.

Over the next year there will be some exciting things to come.  And regardless of where this road takes us, our quest continues to offer well-designed and affordable products that we believe will lessen our impact and elevate our daily lives.....While helping drive empathetic action for the human and non-human world alike by discovering connections with the things and people we have yet to understand and meet.  Hopefully some of you will be a part of this ongoing adventure.  Regardless of where things take us, it's always better to have good people come along for the ride.

Be well,
